Donald T. Benson

Don Benson is an accomplished Senior Executive offering 45 plus years of the caliber of successes and functional skill sets sought after by leading enterprises and corporations today. Benson’s positions have ranged from being manager of command and control systems for The Pentagon, The White House and the Pacific Theater to senior executive positions in defense, insurance, financial services, healthcare and real estate management. With proven expertise, his overarching accomplishments are founded in providing creative solutions to seemingly intractable organizational and personnel issues. He is skilled in guiding companies through operations consolidations, greenfield start-ups, organization design, change management, culture integration and turnaround situations. A recognized negotiator, Benson has achieved enhanced “Win-Wins” in numerous acquisitions, mergers and divestitures.

Benson is a skilled leader with diversified experience managing a broad range of management issues in multiple locations and culturally diverse environments. He has held senior executive positions for such Fortune 500 companies as CIGNA, Aetna, Coventry Health Care and Connecticut General. Benson also served in executive leadership positions with The Methodist Health Care System in Houston, TX. His most recent position was President and CEO of TriSurant (a large healthcare TPA), in Houston.

Benson’s successes serving on Boards of Directors have included a wide and diverse group ranging from non-profits, to private for profit companies to public boards. Currently he is Chairman of the Board for a managed service/technology company and Chairman of the Audit Committee for a large mutual fund company. He also serves on the boards of healthcare, telecommunications and civil engineering companies.

Benson earned his Bachelor of Science in Management from Central Connecticut University. He also completed continuing studies at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, The Darden School, University of Virginia and Cornell University. He also was awarded a Doctor of Humane Letters (Honorary Degree) from Strayer University.
